The project idea

The project started from the consideration that there are various levels of youth unemployment in many member states but always youth unemployment is higher than the overall unemployment rate and generally there is low quality and insecurity in many jobs occupied by young people.

Evidence of these problems includes:

• difficulty of transition from education to work;
• problems to adapt learning outcomes to labour demand;
• high numbers of early school leavers;
• difficulties in developing a sense of entrepreneurship;
• a need to improve the quality of education and the relationships among schools and labour market.
At the same time, there are countries that present good examples in terms of studies, comparative research and best practises. These need to be exploited at a European level to improve the knowledge-base and provide effective tools to the policy makers and institutions confronting these youth problems...
